Captain America - William's birthday January 2011

This cake was quite fun to make. It was for my little friend William's 10th Birthday. Originally I was supposed to have made a LEGO cake for William, but a few days ahead of time birthday plans were changed and there was a Captain America theme and they wanted a shield cake.
For this cake I used two nine inch rounds. Both white cake. I plastered them together with blue frosting that I also covered the entire cake in. For the decorations on top I used my cookie cutter sets to imprint the designs and traced them out in frosting stars using frosting tip #27.
The last picture of the cake was from party day. It looks quite spectacular with the added decorations.

I think the cake turned out fantastic!

I got a lot of flack for decorating this cake on MY birthday, but I can't think of a better way to have spent my morning. (That was also the morning we came to an agreement on the price of our new home. It was a great birthday treat.)
